Knight Move eBook Christopher Nuttall

A workman like effort but all too predictable. The writing is very good in all aspects. Characters and dialog are clean and crisp. The story is well traveled in sci-fi and nothing new. Its a good adventure with regular action, no excessive narratives that bore you to death, but you will be able to predict what will happens next every time. You will guess the conclusion very early and the end will probably leave you unsatisfied. A bullet to the head should have happened but didn't. If you are new to sci-fi, you will enjoy this book, if you are an old guy that has read everything, pass on this one, you have read it before.

This authors series, Empire's Corps and Democracy's Right are much better books, highly recommend.

Knight Move eBook Christopher Nuttall Reviews

A decent story with a fair share of mystery and intrigue, but it rambled in places and missed giving us pertinent details in places where such details were truly needed. I enjoy a lot of Christopher's work, but I think he is taking on too many projects at one time and the work load is causing some of his work to suffer....
Tech and space are believable. Distance is the problem in space and ship generated wormholes is the answer. Storms add an interesting twist too. Corporate nastiness is not new but is incorporated in the story line and makes sense. Politics, as usual, is believable as well as military goof-offs. Worth the time and effort to read.
From the Nuttall I've read so far, I definitely get the impression that he's at his best when he's writing underdog space captains dealing with mysteries and political intrigue. Since that's mostly what this book is, he's in his element. Characterization isn't really his strongest suite, but if you're looking for space action with a plot, this will scratch your itch.
The book is very well written--as one would expect from this talented author. Military action may be the backdrop of the story but it is more a story of political intrigue and greed. If you like hard core tech and tactics--this may not be your cup of tea.
The book is firmly entrenched in it's author's viewpoint. Characters with political viewpoints outside the author's designated 'rational opinion' feel forced and rather unbelievable.

That said the issues there were more descriptive than believable, as it's easy to see the political positions forming, it's just their advocate's thought processes that are a little skewed.

Other than that, it was a fun ride, with a very interesting sci-fi world setup. (My high opinion largely stems from my empathy for the author's viewpoint...)
Another excellent Space Opera from Christopher Nuttall. Classic. While this doesn't build on the universes built in his others of this genera, the background always feels comfortable like favorite jeans. I read a lot, Chris may write faster than I read, I am in heaven, a favorite author with seemingly unlimited titles. I am a SciFi guy but I will try his fantasy books.

Chris is an indie publisher and some spell checked proof reader errors slip through. He has cleverly come up with a way to crowd source this task and reduce these imperfections. You spot a proof reader error, send Chris an email with the details, and he will name a character for you in a future novel. I am a Starship Captain. A "Bond" villain would have been cool too.

Keep writing Chris.
If you're a fan of Nuttall, you won't bother to read this. If you're not yet a fan of Nuttall, this isn't his best but it's better than most of the military scifi.

If you've not read anything by Nuttall, I suggest you start with his "Empire's Corps" series. Then he will have his talons into your flesh and you will hunt down and read everything he's written including his fantasy books and I don't like fantasy. I got my first Nuttall book from the USO when I was stationed at Camp Virginia in Kuwait. I think half the guys in the unit had read it before it got traded for a Jay Allan book during a road trip in Iraq.
